Indian Spiced Salmon

This Indian-spiced salmon recipe is a snap to put together on busy nights—it takes just a few minutes to prepare, and about 15 minutes to cook. But thanks to a sprinkling of 7 herbs and spices, this dish has nuanced flavor that disguises its simple preparation.

Ingredients

1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon

1 teaspoon Coriander, Ground

1/2 teaspoon Cumin

1/2 teaspoon Thyme

1 teaspoon Turmeric

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

4 - 6 ounce salmon fillets, with skin

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup greek yogurt

4 lemon wedges

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.

2. In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-low heat add the Cinnamon, Coriander, Cumin Ground Coriander, Thyme, Turmeric, black pepper, and ground cloves. Toast while stirring frequently until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a shallow bowl.

3. Lightly salt the salmon fillets, then dredge flesh side into spice mixture.

4. Heat oil in the same skillet over medium-high heat. Add seasoned fillets, skin side up - cook for 4 minutes or until flesh is golden. Flip fish and transfer to the oven.

5. Bake for 6 - 8 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork.  Serve with a tablespoon of yogurt and a lemon wedge.

Substitutions
Recipe Tip:
I prefer salmon to be cooked to just medium which is 125ºF on a digital thermometer.
